Our resident Wanderer

Several of our secrets center around our resident wanderer. Unfortunately, like a few of our residents, she's a bit loony. Forgetful, even, or maybe she's just too distracted by tasks she's meant to complete or events replaying in her head.

Oh! You haven't found her hiding place. She IS in the Shire, but she's a bit fearful of places too public. My theory is that she was exploring the cave and managed to fall down a bit of a hole. If you're interested in finding her, you oughta have a bit of extra weight you can take, and go visit that jerk Waktai the Avenger. He keeps his pee in a "vase." I wish HE'd move out of Rhone, but noone's had the heart to kick him out.

Anyway, once you take care of his vase (gross), you can see the hole hiding behind it. You'll get cheered up a bit by the nifty glowy stone, and while that's not the thing you want to take with you, you might want to move it up a bit. Somewhere in there is a hella heavy bronze hand that you need to put on a certain statue in a certain cave if you want to meet a certain wanderer.

Once you replace the broken hand and fall through the trapdoor, you'll see a dirty dirty girl. This is the wanderer you've been searching for. Unfortunately, all she wants is shiny stuff. Fortunately, she doesn't collect mad amounts of pc, or anything even very rare. She likes the weirdest things. She likes a craptastic boring silver ring that a couple of folks have. One's a babysitter of sorts who lives in Hylar. Easier than that is to go beat up a bunch of gully dwarves and take their eating utensils. There are some in the museum in Pesvint, and a couple through a foggy patch off the path southeast of Hylar. For these things, she gives you some Giggleberry juice. Yummmm! But it's best used for things other than tasting... If you find the right gem, you'll impress the socks off of her. The right gem will help her realize how dedicated to the shire you are, and she'll give you a useful device (it's a pipe, an impresario's favorite smoking implement) for getting to Rhea quickly in case of a raid.

Uh, that's all for now.

Current Shire Leadership

Mayor: Niblet
Sheriff:
Impresario: Moco (new today)
Finder: Apexyen
Fisher:

Mayor directs shire activities, negotiating and preventing problems as needed. The figurehead of the shire.

Sheriff regulates behavior internally and delivers retribution. The mayor's right hand halfling also has access to the org leaders room through the orgportal exit at join room. The only other position with this exit is the mayor.

Impresario is in charge of all things related to parties. A bit negotiator and a bit entertainer, a good impresario must also know where to get decent party equipment. You better know where the kegs can be found, who has the best smokes, and where you can pick up the best party favors of all kinds.

Finder tends to run around on her own. While the impresario is BFFs with lots of the local shopowners from Rhone to Iapage, the Finder tends to acquire goods while browsing other players' inventories. I'm not saying the Finder is often a thief or a pirate, but really, they do tend to have a lot in common. A good finder can point you in the way of the black market. Occultists and psionists might make tolerable finders too.

The Master Fisher should be on the top ten list. It hasn't been hard to get on the list for a while. There's been less halfies, and less botters, so there aren't even ten on the list right now. The master fisher can tell you a handful of places to fish, and how to become a better fisher. Of course, the Master Fisher tends to exaggerate stories a bit, so you can't believe everything you hear. That's true with most halflings though, innit.

Unfortunately, you can only hold one position at a time.

History

I started playing because of a boy. I think he waited until we started dating before he fully exposed his nerdery. We didn't have a computer. We didn't have much of anything except a scantily furnished apartment and a growing fondness for each other. And some amazing friends. Anyway.

Since we didn't have a computer, we'd use the free computers at the library (which SUCKED because you only have like half an hour and no privacy because people are more likely to make sure you're not trying to look at porn). Better than the library were the university computer labs. We weren't students there, but we had ways. There were computers in the hall there, placed conveniently for students to check their email. We'd telnet in and have that lovely green text scroll by at dizzying speeds. Once, a family was touring the building, and the mom peered over my shoulder in amazement. "Oh wow! How do you type so fast?!!?" I think I might have sealed the deal for the University of _________ for that lady's kid. If the University had such amazing typers, it had to be a great school. Really, I was slightly embarrassed, and I muttered something about my personal email and how people shouldn't peer over people's emails.

Those were the early days when we telnetted from wherever we could. We felt a bit subversive. We also did all that mildly subversive real life stuff. Dumpster dove (although folks that do that know you don't exactly dive), flyering to expose corporate evils, leaving random bits of art in coffeeshops for people to find and get happy about.

Eventually we settled in, became a bit more domestic, and got zmud. Or maybe it's the other way around. Now, years later, we take long breaks from the Realms of the Dragons. Not a BAD thing ever, it's good to be connected with the earth and the sky and a book and other people. But when you've got a position you've been neglecting, that's not exactly admirable.

The Shire of Rhea

As halfling has been Apexyen's major race, and the Shire her fondest home, we'll start there.

Firstly, I'd like to past Jasmin's last post on Rhea's board here, as a bookmark of sorts so it doesn't get lost on the board.

Title: 'My Departure'

Written in common:
Greetings Halflings *listens to the crickets*,

I will be leaving the Shire in a few days. To my knowledge there are 2
orged halflings, Apexyen and Eolis. Grigory peeks in now and then and
might join the org. Maybe Tufs, Potbelly or Echo will come back. Y'all
will be in charge of the Shire unless others emerge. Either way, I'd
like to state the Rhea org abilities, incase you are not aware of them,
and info about Halflings.

Ok, Giggleberry Juice and Wood pipe, to get these you must do a little
quest that requires the retrieval of a bronze hand, weighing 250. You
may have noticed a bronze statue in the Shire missing its bronze hand ;).
Once you have the hand, you either get a certain shiny object or a specific
gem to give to the wanderer residing below the bronze statue. What do you
do at the statue?, may be obvious, or I recommend getting some org points
by fishing in the shire, collecting unique items and dipping them in the
fountain, and then buying a Ring of Opportunity. I love this ring, it
will help you in rooms where a syntax is used to find a secret room(s).
Give the wanderer one item per visit and she will either give you a
Giggleberry Juice when given shiny object or a Wood pipe when given a

specific gem. The juice is thrown at your enemies in raids and has random
percentage of working. When it works, it will keep the enemy from casting
spells and some commands. The Wood pipe will teleport you to the Shire when
raiders arrive and you are far away, just use pipe.

You can register names to the enemy list at org joinroom. It isnt much but
may give you a little more info of the whereabouts of the raider. You can
also register heroes, non-halflings willing to defend the shire along side
you and getting/losing prestige. Hero candidate must be at entrance of Rhea
to be registered.

The can of silly string in org shop is for fun and rp.

Mayor of the Shire is main Org leader, Second in command is Sheriff. Both
get access to OM channel. Head Angler, well likes to fish, but is also
considered the orgs recruiter. Impresario plans parties, keeps the org members
content. Finder "finds" goodies for the org, must be of a stealthy
background...find/steal, same thing ;)

You must follow one of the following deities to join this org: Yondalla,
Gaia, Kirgi Or Yannick.

Halflings also have access to a room where miniatures can be created.
Davian, npc, will make them according to your liking. Only the first word

will be Capitalized and fees vary. You dont not have to agree to buy the
miniature unless you like the price and want to. They are just cute toys.

You can purchase houses in Rhea, non-halflings can enter but not purchase,
including Heroes.

(not sure if this means anything) The Mayor of Rhone talks about an item in
a shipwreck east of Pesvint that allows Halflings to communicate long
distances.

Incase you are wondering, non-halflings must now move vines at Rhea Entrance
to enter the shire.

If i think of anything else before I leave, I will post ;)

Priestess Jasmin HairyFeet, Mayor of the Shire of Rhea :)

Seeing as it's long past my bedtime, I'll leave it at that for now.
